Salty Desire

Product Details

This unique, hand-painted original artwork draws inspiration from the aerial landscapes of The Turks and Caicos - a place of healing, light, and serenity. Created through expressive fluid painting techniques, this piece is truly one-of-a-kind, impossible to reproduce, repeat, or recreate. Each painting emerges organically, capturing a moment that can never happen again.

36" x 48" x1.5"

The first time I tasted the wind in Turks and Caicos, it did not feel like air.

It felt like a promise.

The sea there was not just blue, it was a hundred whispered shades between turquoise and longing. Standing on Grace Bay Beach, I watched the tide move like breath against the reef, pulling in, pushing out, never apologizing for its hunger.

That was when the painting began.

Not on canvas, but in my heart, in my mind.

Back in my studio, the memory clung to my skin like salt. I painted waves the way they ache.

In Turks and Caicos, the ocean taught me something dangerous: desire is tidal. It retreats just far enough to make me step forward. It glimmers under sunlight, so I believe I can hold it. It breaks over me anyway.

This painting is not calm. It shimmers with wanting.

In the final layers, I added white, not soft foam, but sharp glints of light. The kind that flashes off the water in Turks and Caicos at noon, forcing me to squint, forcing me to feel. Those touches are the heartbeat of this painting.

I titled it “Salty Desire.”

Because that’s what the ocean was.

Not just beautiful, not just vast, but insistent.

Like standing at the edge of Grace Bay, knowing I could walk in forever. Knowing the sea would take me gently. Knowing it would also never belong to me.

And somehow wanting it more because of that.
